HR Pilot
"We value the effectiveness of human resource management among all business. Skills development, flexibility and positive support are just a few words in our vocabulary that explore barriers and cultivate learning. Developing and testing an accessible HR tool kit that will increase awareness and demonstrate direct benefits is our goal in achieving an HR experience that will be embraced and sustained throughout business for many years.” This year, Thebacha Business Development Services has been chosen to participate in a National Human Resources Pilot project. The goal of this project is to increase effectiveness of human resource (HR) management practices within small businesses, in order to increase productivity and competitiveness. Through the participation and interaction of over 100 businesses nation wide, and 48 agents, this project will create a toolkit for any small business that is starting, growing or feels the need to develop human resource practices. This manual will be distributed to the 268 members of the Pan-Canadian Community Futures Network, and other community economic development networks.
Progress
As the only member of this project in the NWT, Thebacha Business Development Services will be sharing our northern perspective and presenting information specific to the North of 60. We are working in partnership with Lou's Small Engines to not only help their human resource practices but design the national toolkit. We have had our first meeting with Lou's and will continue with the diagnotistic steps for the remainder of the summer. The NHRP project is set to be completed in January, 2010.
